Daniel
J. Tinnes was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to a crop duster father
and a bartender mom. On a trip to Colorado to visit his maternal grandparents,
the airplane broke down and they still haven’t made enough money
to leave!
Danny
has lived and worked in the industry all his life, from washing the
windshield when he was 5 years old, to flagging on a three-wheeler,
to flying. He started his first season in a 235 Pawnee, then moved up
to a 600 Thrush, an Air Tractor 301, and finally a 502. The business
still has the Pawnee and she does a little bit every year. He has accumulated
over 9000 hours total time from flying Ag to piloting a Cessna 421.
He holds a Commercial, Instrument, Multi, Single Engine Land and Sea,
Instructor and an A & P.
Danny went to college for 6 years and left with a 4 year degree. He
has been through NAAA Leadership Class, a Colorado AAA Past President,
and a Fellow with CSU for Ag Rural Leadership. Danny is the 2008 Vice
President of the NAAA and this will be his second year as a PAASS presenter.
Now for the important stuff; he has been married to his first wife,
Coleen, for 14 years. She is an Administrator at the same country school
she graduated from. They have two kids - Daddy’s Little Girl,
Lauren is 12 years old, going on 20 and Luke, 8, who he would put up
against any other 8 year old in wrestling. He might not win but he would
give it a try.
