NAAA
Services & Program
What does NAAA do for the industry?
•
Achieves Significant Industry Cost Savings – NAAA has
been successful in preventing costly user fees from being charged
to ag aircraft. The Association was successful in exempting ag aircraft
from a $25 fee for each flight proposed in the U.S. Senate. Also,
proposals in the House and Senate include hikes in the federal fuel
tax by a minimum of 25% and as steep as 125%; however, it appears
NAAA’s actions in recent years providing full and completed
tax relief for aerial applications made to cropland will exempt our
industry. All these efforts—exemption from flight fees, complete
tax relief from ferrying to an application site and when making an
application, eliminating the need to obtain farmer waivers—are
saving each agricultural aviator thousand of dollars a year at a minimum.
These savings, each year, are on average 10 times greater than your
annual national and state association membership dues combined!
•
National Representation – NAAA works closely with the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Congress,
and state and local agencies to stop unnecessary and burdensome regulations.
• Strengthen Ag Aviation’s Voice – NAAA works
to ensure that aerial application receives and maintains a positive
image through outreach to national newspapers, radio and television
stations, Congress and federal agencies. It keeps the industry up-to-date
on the latest issues through the Agricultural Aviation magazine, the
NAAA Website, E-Newsletters and Press Releases.
• Industry Representation – NAAA works with agri-chemical
manufacturers and the EPA to ensure that all ag aviators have a healthy
supply of crop protection products that are labeled for aerial use
so operators and pilots have the tools needed to serve their customers.
• Continuing Education and Safety Programs – NAAA
membership coupled with participation in PAASS, Compaass
Rose, Operation S.A.F.E. Fly-Ins, and the Leadership Training Program
all offer ag aviators several ways to improve their professionalism,
earn possible CEU’s and discounts through their insurance providers.
• Convention & Trade Show – The convention
highlights include the world’s largest agricultural aviation
trade show, seminars and forums to address current industry events
and issues and great networking opportunities. It puts you in contact
with the latest and greatest parts and services available to the industry.
• Promotes Technology – Over the past six years,
NAAA has successfully lobbied Congress for an additional $3.4 million
in federal funds for the USDA-ARS Aerial Application Technology Program
to develop new technologies mitigating drift and making applications
more cost and environmentally efficiently.
• Forum for Aerial Application Information Exchange –
Convention, Compaass Rose program and the Members Only Website.
