New AgPilotApp Available for Aerial Applicators
There is a new app available for aerial applicators. AgPilotAPP, developed by NAAA board member Ron Cline of Central Valley Helicopters in Ellensburg, WA, has several utilities for ag aviators including:
- Ability to load ag aircraft model specific performance data from a growing list of ag aircraft.
- If app is saved to home screen, aircraft can be saved as part of customizable fleet.
- Flight Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT) based on NAAA’s Ag Aviation FRAT with recommended mitigations.
- View airport weather & notices
- Link to view NOTAMs
- Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) Map
- Allows entry of takeoff data including pressure altitude, fuel, OAT, hopper load size, gross weight, pilot weight, headwind/tailwind kts, glide height AGL, and runway conditions.
- Calculates density altitude, total weight (confirms if within limits) takeoff ground roll distance, takeoff distance to 50 ft. altitude, climb rate, best climb rate, stall speed, glide distance, landing ground roll distance, and landing distance from 50 ft. altitude.
AgPilotApp can be accessed by clicking here.
The app can be run on both Apple and Android smartphones as well as both Apple and PC computers. It can be run with your web browser, or you can add it as app by following these basic instructions (specific icons and menu options will vary based on operating system):
- Tap the share icon
- Look for a menu item to add the app to your home screen
- Rename the app from “Streamlit” to “AgPilotApp”
The app will be undergoing further development to improve functionality and add features. Currently it will not allow you to save your custom empty weight, but work is underway to add that feature. If you have suggestions, an aircraft you wish to add, or additional features that would be beneficial to ag pilots, contact Ron.
