While innovation is often driven by economics and operational needs, regulatory requirements, particularly those tied to the EPA’s implementation of Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections through pesticide labels, are playing a growing role in nozzle development.
In a press release this week, Air Tractor announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for the Garmin GFC 600 digital autopilot in Air Tractor AT-802 and AT-802A aircraft, providing operators with a modern autopilot solution designed to enhance safety, reliability and operational efficiency.
The Certified-Professional Aerial Applicator Safety Steward (C-PAASS) program has been renamed. Aerial applicators wishing to document their professionalism, commitment to safety, and application accuracy will now be known as a Certified Aerial Applicator.
Since 1995, NAAA, in partnership with Syngenta Crop Protection, has offered the Leadership Training Program (LTP) to develop leaders within the aerial application industry. Over the past 30 classes, nearly 400 NAAA members have graduated from the program. Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 program.
The Federal Aviation Administration’s annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey (GA Survey) is now underway, reporting on calendar year 2025. FAA survey administrators report a strong start to this year’s effort, with additional communication efforts underway this week and next to encourage participation from those who have not yet responded.
