Brian Anniss, Former NAAA Board Member, Passes

June 11, 2026

Former NAAA Board Member Brian Anniss passed away peacefully on June 5 at his beloved ranch in Amarillo, Texas. Born on July 22, 1974, in Waterloo, Iowa, Brian’s life was marked by commitment, generosity, and a profound connection to both his roots and the land he so dearly loved.

Brian was the NAAA Allied-Chemical board member in 2016-2017 and was a constant presence at NAAA meetings. He loved helping at the NAAA Live Auction and was a constant support for NAAA staff during NAAA Board Meetings and the Ag Aviation Expo. Even when he was no longer employed within the industry, he attended the Ag Aviation Expo to assist where needed.

Brian spent his formative years in Iowa, graduating in 1993 from Union High School in Dysart-LaPorte City. Pursuing higher education at Iowa State University, Brian earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business in 1998, setting the foundation for a lifelong career in the agricultural industry.

Brian’s professional path began in Triangle Park, North Carolina, where he started with Rhone-Poulence Ag Company, navigating through various company acquisitions that took him eventually to Dumas, Texas. His career was distinguished by his role in sales and his adaptability to the evolving agricultural business landscape. He worked for UPL when he became involved with NAAA.

In 2013, Brian realized a deeply personal dream when he purchased his cherished ranch outside Amarillo. He invested not just in the property but in making it a haven for friends and family, notably adding a “barn” to the bunkhouse in 2016. This space became the heart of many joyous celebrations, exemplifying his generous spirit embodied perfectly in his way of living: “If I have it and you need it, it is yours.”

Brian is survived by his loving brother Eric Anniss and Eric’s wife Hillary along with their children Claire and Eli, all residing in Waterloo, Iowa. He also leaves behind many relatives and incredible friends.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 P.M. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel in Canyon, Texas.  Following the visitation, family and friends are invited to join in fellowship at Brian’s ranch. Brian’s visitation, funeral and burial will take place in Waterloo and Dysart, Iowa on June 19 from 11 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. View details here.
