Cael Schmitz Fatally Injured in Ag Aviation Accident
Cael David Schmitz, 23, of St. Joseph, Missouri, was fatally injured on June 15, 2026, as the result of an agricultural aviation accident.

A graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in Natural Resource Science and Management, Cael combined his love of the outdoors with a passion for aviation, earning his pilot certificate in 2023. He married his wife, Sophia, in 2025, and the couple shared a love of flying, travel and the outdoors.
Cael’s service was held on Saturday, June 27, at Trinity Community Church in Columbia, MO. Click here to read Cael’s full obituary.
