NAAA Vice President Joel Meyer Featured in Professionalism Training Video
NAAA Vice President Joel Meyer recently collaborated with Betsy Danielson, co-coordinator of the Pesticide Safety Education Program at Iowa State University, to develop a professionalism training video for Commercial Continuing Instruction Course (C-CIC) participants in Iowa. Commercial Continuing Instruction Courses are approved training programs for licensed professionals—primarily pesticide applicators—to maintain their certifications. These courses, often provided by university extensions or industry organizations, ensure applicators are updated on safety, regulations, and techniques. Joel’s segment will be part of a two-hour video used to recertify all aerial applicators for Iowa.

The video highlights key components of running a modern aerial application operation, including industry expectations, business management, operational decision-making, equipment considerations, and insurance responsibilities. Together, these topics reinforce that professionalism extends beyond flying skill alone, shaping how aerial applicators interact with customers, regulators, and the communities they serve.
The project reflects NAAA’s continued commitment to education and strengthening professional standards across agricultural aviation.
