Superseding AD Issued for Lycoming Oil Inspections and Connecting Rod Bushings
FAA is superseding AD 2024-21-02 (superseded AD issued October 31, 2024), which applies to Lycoming engines that have certain connecting rod assemblies installed. The superseded AD requires repetitive oil inspections for bronze metal particulates and, if found, additional inspections of the connecting rod bushings for damage, proper fit, movement, and wear, and replacement if necessary. As terminating action to the connecting rod bushing inspections, replacement of the connecting rod bushings with parts eligible for installation is required.
AD 2026-04-11 (the new superseding AD) was issued March 4, 2026. It requires the actions in the superseded AD and additionally requires expanding the applicability. Additional parts that are eligible for installation have been identified and the ship date range for potentially affected parts that may be subject to the connecting rod failure has been expanded:
- Superseded AD: 30-Jan-2009 to 14-Feb-2017
- New Superseding AD: 30-Jan-2009 to 9-Sep-2021
The new superseding AD is effective April 8, 2026.
