FAA is superseding AD 2024-21-02 (superseded AD issued October 31, 2024), which applies to Lycoming engines that have certain connecting rod assemblies installed. The superseded AD requires repetitive oil inspections for bronze metal particulates and, if found, additional inspections of the connecting rod bushings for damage, proper fit, movement, and wear, and replacement if necessary.
The FAA has proposed adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus Helicopters Model AS 350B2, AS 350B3, EC120B, and EC 130 B4 helicopters. This proposed AD was prompted by a short-circuit due to foreign object debris (FOD) or dust inside the lighting and ancillaries control unit (LACU). This proposed AD would require repetitively cleaning and inspecting the affected LACU for FOD.
They are all pesticide active ingredients that faced complete or partial bans for aerial applications. The ability to continue to apply these products by aerial application was the result of efforts by NAAA. NAAA didn’t use special tactics or hire expensive lobbyists to accomplish this – we used industry data to show the economic importance and safety of aerial applications.
The NAAA hotel room block is now open for the 2026 Ag Aviation Expo in Savannah. Convention events will take place at the Savannah Convention Center, with a few at the Westin, next door to the center.
On March 19, NAAA sent a widely circulated press release announcing education flyers emphasizing compliance, safety and environmental professionalism for spray drone operators and their customers. The flyers were developed by the Uncrewed Aerial Application Systems Committee of NAAA. The press release was picked up by CropLife, Agri-Marketing, American Ag Network and Farms.com.
As the nation observed National Ag Day on March 24, NAAA issued a press release to multiple news, agricultural, and aviation media outlets across the United States. In the press release, NAAA recognized the vital role aerial applicators play in modern agriculture and global food production, contributing to a safe and abundant supply of food, fiber, and bioenergy, while also protecting forests and controlling pests that threaten human and animal health.
The Federal Aviation Administration’s annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey (GA Survey) is now underway, reporting on calendar year 2025. The GA Survey is the only source of information on the general aviation fleet and the number of hours flown.
